Biography - The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy
Everything you ever wanted to know about The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, and probably some things you didn't.

The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book, and is essentially treated as a character in and of itself.

The guide is not an Earth book, it was never published on Earth, and until Arthur Dent escaped the Earth's destruction with his best friend Ford Prefect, had never been seen by an Earthman.

Nevertheless, it is a wholly remarkable book. In fact it was probably the most remarkable book ever to come out of the great publishing houses of Ursa Minor - of which no Earthman had ever heard either.

In many of the more relaxed civilizations on the Outer Eastern Rim of the Galaxy, the Hitch Hiker's Guide has already supplanted the great Encyclopedia Galactica as the standard repository of all knowledge and wisdom, for though it has many omissions and contains much that is apocryphal, or at least wildly inaccurate, it scores over the older, more pedestrian work in two important respects:

First, it is slightly cheaper; and secondly it has the words DONT PANIC inscribed in large friendly letters on its cover.

The voice of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy was played by Peter Jones in the TV series, and is played by Stephen Fry in the 2005 big budget Disney movie, "The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy".

And as a fitting tribute to Douglas Adams...
