Biography - Martin Freeman (Role: Arthur Dent)
Everything you ever wanted to know about Martin Freeman, and probably some things you didn't.

Martin was born on September 8, 1971, and has 3 three older brothers and a sister. He's somewhat left-handed.

He trained at Central School of Speech and Drama. In his mid teens Martin started leaning away from an assumed future in sport (he was a successful squash player with the county squad) and more towards the idea of becoming an actor. This demanded a new level of academic commitment in order to acheive the grades required to gain admission to the highly respected Central school.

During this time he was regularly participating in amatuer productions with the Youth Action Theatre in Teddington, including an exhange trip to Kiev in Gorbachev's USSR. During his time at Central he recorded voiceovers for C4's 'Passengers' series, and on leaving college immediately found work in several productions at the National Theatre. He has a passion for music and is an authority on soul and jazz from the 60's and 70's, although his vinyl collection encompasses a much wider range.

Prior to his role in The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, he was probably most well known as "Tim" from "The Office".

Martin Freeman plays the role of Arthur Dent in the 2005 big budget Disney movie, "The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy."

Much of the information on this page was taken directly from Martin's official website.
