John Malkovich was born December 9, 1953, in Christopher Illinois (US). He joined Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre in 1976 with founder and new friend, Gary Sinise. Seven years later, John recieved recognition from the acting community in the form of an Obie for his work in Sam Shepard's play "True West", but his big break was playing alongside Dustin Hoffman in the Broadway revival of "Death of a Salesman", which when shortly thereafter was made into a TV movie, earned him an Emmy.

Since then, he has gone on to play opposite such famous names as Glenn Close, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Clint Eastwood.

Prior to his role in The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, he was probably most well known as "Vicomte De Valmont" from the movie "Dangerous Liasons".

John Malkovich plays the role of Humma Kavula in the 2005 big budget Disney movie, "The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy."
