Biography - Alan Rickman (Role: Voice of Marvin)
Everything you ever wanted to know about Alan Rickman, and probably some things you didn't.

 

Alan Rickman was born Alan Sidney Patrick Rickman in Hammersmith, London on the 21st of February 1946. The son of Irish/Welsh parents, he attended the Royal College of Art with a view to becoming a Graphic Artist. However at the age of 26, he won a scholarship at RADA and studied there for three years.

His first movie success was as the evil villian Hans Gruber in the first "Die Hard" movie. Other major movie credits include Colonel Brandon in "Sense and Sensibility", Jamie in "Truly, Madly, Deeply", the Sheriff of Nottingham in "Robin Hood- Prince of Theives", Dr. Lazarus in "Galaxy Quest" and Professor Snape in "Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone". His first love, however, is theatre and he has passed up many choice movie roles in favour of the stage.

He is devoted to his partner - and the couple have been together for over thirty years..

A real British gentleman, actor extraordinaire, adored and admired by millions, Alan Rickman is undeniably one of Britains finest actors.

Prior to his role in The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, he was probably most well known as "Severus Snape " from the "Harry Potter" movies.

Alan Rickman plays the voice of Marvin in the 2005 big budget Disney movie, "The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy."
